First week of school for this little man and both of us (yes, this mama included), have gone through an emotional rollercoastal. The first day saw him going into the school in a happy mode but the second day, he was apprehensive. On the third day, he showed reluctance and cried pitifully, clinging on to me as I passed him to the teachers.
“Mama! Mama!” His hands were reaching out to me with his longing gaze fixed on me.
My heart broke.
This boy has never once mentioned that he didn’t want to go to school so it was a shock to hear him say that now. I recognised that it’s due to the change of environment and the lack of friends (and he missed his CV friends a lot) and that he needed time to adapt.
Week 1 of Term 4 went like this. He was generally a happy boy except for the two occasions that he clung on to me and cried,”I don’t want to go to school!”
I’m thankful that the principal was very reassuring and sent me pictures to show me how he has settled soon after I dropped him off.
Maybe week 2 would be better?
