[TOYTAG] Pattern Play: Bright Colours

We love games. I mean, who doesn’t? We particularly like board games and actively seek to look out for good ones. They really help to strengthen our bond as the family comes together and play. Now that the little boy is a bit older, he could join in the fun too!

Our usual haunt for board games and the like would be from amazon, Toys ‘r’ Us and Popular Bookstore. Then TOYTAG contacted us and we realised we have one more good option to choose from. The kind folks at TOYTAG invited us to choose one item from their wide repertoire of toys and games to review and in the end, we chose Pattern Play: Bright Colours.

I must admit it’s not easy to settle for one because there are just too many to choose from. So if you happen to go into the website and get lost, I can totally empathise because the same happened to me as well. I thought it’s best to go down to the physical site to ask for recommendation. 😀

This box of Pattern Play contains brightly-coloured blocks in varying shapes which is good for introducing maths concepts like sorting, matching, symmetry and fractions. I thought we could use the blocks to teach length and measurement to the toddler too.

There are 40 glossy pattern cards that are numbered in order of difficulty, ranging from beginning to expert. This proves difficult for the boy at this point in time but the girl enjoys it. As she progresses to the expert level which is the right level for her, we could see patience and confidence gained from the process.

I believe there are many ways to use the blocks for teaching and learning. One just need to be creative! I personally like the quality of the blocks and you could pack this game in a bag provided! Good for travel, just that it’s a tad heavy. : (

We did go down to the physical site, all ready to contribute to the economy. One of our friends has been posting a lot of interesting board games on his FB and it seems the family has a whale of a time playing with them. So we thought we could perhaps find some games to entertain ourselves, especially during the June hols.

So we did part with some cash in exchange for a few games. You might find yourself in the shop for quite a while since you want the salesperson to recommend you some.

Have fun!

Disclaimer: We were invited to review an item of our choice from TOYTAG. No other monetary compensation was involved. All opinions are mine.
