Waterplay fun

So today marks the end of the June holidays for us in Singaland. How fast! I’m actually not affected by it since a) I’m no longer teaching; and b) Faith is not in school. But I will definitely miss those fun outing we had with my sister and her two (three) boys!

We went to Gardens by the Bay and Port of Lost Wonders during the third week of June and it was definitely a fun time for the kiddos.

The Far East Organisation Children’s Garden at Gardens by the Bay caters to kids from 1 to 12 years old  and the one-hectare garden consists of playtime elements that combine both nature and adventure. The kids can enjoy exploring a 7.5 metre-tall tree house (for older kids) to splashing around at interactive water tunnels.

Our family turned up early on a weekday and there weren’t a lot of people then. The kids started at the non-intimidating toddler play zone while the adults watched them from a distance at the sheltered amphitheatre.

They soon got bored and moved over to the waterplay area that is suitable for children aged between 6 to 12 years old. The programmable water play is linked to sensors which detect the movement of children to create a corresponding sequence of water effects. I though Faith would be frightened of this area but she dared to explore and linger in that space for quite some time!

My sis and I forgot to bring along a set of clothes for ourselves and couldn’t join in the fun with them. I think it would be rather interesting to play in this waterplay area with the kiddos!

The weather was super hot that day and we had to call it quits after about an hour and a half. There were shower facilities so there isn’t a great problem cleaning them up.

A few days later, we went to another waterplay area and this time round, it was Sentosa we went – Port of Lost Wonders! Since it opens at 10am, we had breakfast at the nearby Mac.

Faith really does adore her cousins, especially Dayen, the younger one.

We were the first in line and spent some time monkeying around.

The children obviously enjoyed their time here and I must say I did too. Faith is a bit young and thus we had to supervise her when she ventured into the ship. I appreciate that there are crew members on the ship on the lookout for the safety of the kids. Good!

After 2 hours of playing in the water, we proceeded to lunch at the nearby beach. So tiring but it’s great fun, I must say.

We will definitely be back again when my brother and his family come back in a month’s time! Can’t wait!
